4 Reasons to Host/Lead A Group (In Your Home)

You’ll have leftovers. The best groups eat together. Nothing breaks down walls, destroys perceptions, and creates community like people chewing, chowing, and chomping on some good food. And for some reason, everybody wants to leave the delicious food they brought with you and your family. Get used to saying, “Thank you!” (And to working out a little longer.) LOL!

Your house will be cleaner. It won’t be like “Thanksgiving the in-laws are coming clean,” but it will be tidier. My family pulls together every Saturday to clean up the house for our Sunday night group. It’s created a beautiful new habit, family clean up time, and a nice house to come home to on Monday.

You’ll care less about your stuff and more about people. This one is my favorite. I used to care a lot about how people sat on my couch. Or if people took their shoes off in the den. And well now - I just don’t. The thing I love to see is someone new reclining and snuggling in a blanket on the couch. That means they feel at home. That means they KNOW they’re welcome. Mission Accomplished.

You may just entertain an angel. (Hebrew 13:2) I think it’s amazing that this is a real possibility. We came close once, a guy we had never met before showed up to our house the first night of our group. We thought he was an angel, but now we just call him family.
