Yes! You can.

Fifteen and a half years ago I was a single mom with two kids under the age of five, working two jobs, and struggling to make ends meet.

It definitely wasn't the life I had dreamed of when I was playing Sweet Valley High and reading Babysitters Club books, but it was my life nonetheless.

I clocked into a donut shop before most people think about waking up, worked eight hours, changed my clothes in the bathroom, and then clocked into my next job for another six hours until my kids bedtime.

It wasn't ideal, but it was real. I had to do it. In my mind there was no other option. We weren't going to thrive, but by God, we were going to survive.

Two years later, I met Jesus, dropped one of my jobs, but worked harder than before. Not long after, I ditched the identity of survivor and picked up the identity of thriver. I was still a single mom and the bills still begged to be paid, but something on the inside had changed. I didn’t know it then, but I wasn't just living for me and my kids.

I have met so many women that have had to live through similar situations. Many of whom thought they would not, could not make it one more day. I'll tell you what I tell them every single time. Yes, you can!

  • Yes, you can! Be a single mother, work two jobs, have friendships, and go to school.

  • Yes, you can! Be in a broken marriage, still respect your husband, and take care of your home.

  • Yes, you can! Lead a group, homeschool your children, teach a Sunday School class, and be one of the kindest humans in the world.

  • Yes, you can! Start your own business, work full-time at another business, and still find the time to volunteer in your community.

  • Yes, you can! Survive your husband's third deployment in six years, show up to your group every week, and stay sane!

How do I know? Not because I have done all of these things, but because I personally know women who have done all of these things.

If you find it hard to believe that you can thrive in this season of life, trust me and my girlfriends - with Jesus, “Yes, YOU can!”
