Stars in the Sky
Stars in the sky. Four simple words that change my focus, every single time. I don’t know about you, but my little world can seem so big all of a sudden.
The meat I forgot to put in the sink. The check engine light’s appearance. The to-do list item that’s still undone. The call from the doctor’s office.
The more I think about it, the bigger it grows, until it’s literally the largest, most pressing, need-an-answer-now thing that’s ever existed in the existence of the world.
But these four words shake me back and shatter the magnifying glass. Stars in the sky.
Years ago it occurred to me that if God, my Father, can keep 100 thousand million stars in The Milky Way (only one of the multiplied millions of galaxies) in the sky, in their proper place in space, right where He wants them to be, then He can keep me.
Maybe you don’t have a problem magnifying the minute, navigating uncertainty, or mulling over your mistakes. But if you do, I invite you to join me in lifting your gaze.
When your whole world is shaking, these four words can change things.
Stars in the sky.
